Every day, Safe Places works in the community creating safe places for children and young people.

From the youngest child who is
completely dependent upon caring
adults for protection . . .

to the adolescent who has
experienced so much life chaos and
exposure to violence and abuse that
he or she cannot trust any adult to
provide a safe place,

their lives are in a precarious balance.

Our children and youth need help through many transitions in their lives - transitions that take them from danger to safety and from despair to hope.

And that's why transformations and transitions are such an important part of the work Safe Places does with children and youth.

So what do transformations and transitions look like?

That's why Safe Places staff persons work so hard to be present with children and young people  -

to help create some transformations,

to help ease some of their transitions.

Please take a few moments to watch the Multiple Transitions video on the right. It is not every child's experience, of course, but it may help you understand why so many transitions are difficult for children.

They look like a young person without any adult role models, a young man whose normal response to life is violent.

They look like a young child who has already known many caregivers and has transitioned from home to home trying to find a place to belong, to feel safe and protected.
