Safe Places Sexual Violence
Support Center

Statewide Sexual Violence Crisis Hotline: 1-877-432-5368
Local Sexual Violence Crisis Hotline: 501-801-2700

The Safe Places Sexual Violence Support Center exists to serve survivors of sexual violence in all of its forms, as well as to assist their non-offending family members. An experienced and compassionate staff, along with a corps of well-trained volunteers, provide crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment, trauma counseling, individual and group advocacy, education, and continuing support to any person who has suffered the devastation of sexual violence.

Because our staff includes a number of individuals with varied expertise, we are able to address sexual violence holistically by also assisting with related forms of violence such as family violence, child sexual abuse, human trafficking, sexual harassment, and violence in any form.  Culturally relevant and comprehensive services are also available to persons in the Latino community, as well as persons who are differently able.

Safe Places Sexual Violence Support Center hospital advocates are volunteers who participate in a training program which equips them to provide the kind of emotional support and intervention that can help alleviate the trauma of sexual violence in the lives of survivors and their loved ones.

Our hospital and crisis intervention advocates serve sexual violence survivors in Pulaski county. Through their commitment and compassion, we are able to provide hospital emergency room crisis intervention, and 24-hour, toll-free crisis line support.

Working with hospitals, local law enforcement agencies, the local Federal Bureau of Investigation, judicial systems, and local advocacy organizations, we also provide educational printed materials, presentations to community organizations, and training for law enforcement and for other professionals who serve survivors of sexual violence.

An important component of our intervention is providing individual trauma counseling and support groups. Advocates experienced in working with sexual violence survivors facilitate our support groups.  The following groups are available as needed:

Sexual assault is a violent crime that holds the power to devastate individuals, families, and communities. Both men and women can be sexually assaulted . . . adults, very young children, adolescents, and even elderly persons.

Safe Places staff persons are pro-active catalysts in helping create a safe and healthy community, an environment in which every person may live without the fear of sexual violence. Whether you need individual crisis intervention counseling, a group of supportive peers, help in dealing with law enforcement, referral to a community health or mental health resource, or just a concerned friend at the end of the phone line, call Safe Places at 1-501-801-2700 (Pulaski County) or statewide toll-free 1-877-432-5368 for free and confidential help.

Every person who has suffered the violation of sexual assault needs to hear a message of hope - hope that he or she can be a survivor with the courage to heal.

If you are looking for a speaker for your community group, classroom, or religious group, we provide excellent programs on sexual assault, rape prevention, sexual harassment, date rape, child sexual abuse, incest, and other topics as requested.
