Safe Places was there for us during a horrible time in our family. My advocate was there in the middle of the night when was in danger, in the courtroom when I was terrified, and with me during horrible times when I had no where else to turn.
My children and I have been hurt so much, and she was there to support us.
- A mother of three children
Being from a far away country is so frightening. I didn't know who to turn to. I was afraid of the police. I just didn't know anybody to help me.
I was brought here to get a good job because of a promise made to me. But now I am locked up in a room and made to do what I am told.
Safe Places came to my aid. After very hard times, I have found a new life.

Our Vision
Safe Places envisions a world without violence ~
a world in which every person experiences
safety, protection, nurture, and opportunities
that ensure a future filled with hope
Our Mission
The mission of Safe Places is to create communities where every child is protected, every home is a safe place, and where every person can live a life free from violence.
Our Promises
Safe Places fulfills two promises.
To victims of violence:
We listen when they are in crisis, counsel when they feel uncertain, fight to uphold their rights as victims,
and guide them as they work to reestablish their lives.
To communities:
We educate individuals in homes, schools, and neighborhoods, and challenge them to join together to prevent violence.
A Little More About Safe Places
Safe Places is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides individual and group support, advocacy, counseling, education and training, criminal justice advocacy, information, referral services, and specialized therapies to encourage and strengthen the healing process for survivors of violence. Many of our services, including our Crisis Line, are provided throughout the state.
Located in central Little Rock’s Governor’s Mansion Historic District, Safe Places serves children and families who live in areas of the county that present the highest risk for violent victimization.
Safe Places’ staff collaborates with organizations throughout the county to provide violence intervention and prevention services and offers community-based services on site to court programs, faith communities, schools, day care centers, substance abuse treatment facilities, inpatient behavioral health facilities, detention centers, halfway houses, domestic violence shelters, hospitals and after-school community programs for children.
Through our 24-hour Crisis Line, we respond to victims of violence and to all local hospital emergency departments when an individual is harmed by sexual or domestic violence.
